The SIMIA2027 – International Symposium on Education, Multilingualism, and Internationalization in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, under the theme “Trajectories, Challenges, and Possible Futures,” will be held in Vitória on March 4 and 5, 2027, with the aim of providing an interdisciplinary and international scientific and technical forum for critically discussing transformations in education in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), bringing together multilingualism, internationalization, technologies, and knowledge production. The proposal builds on the 14-year trajectory of the Research Group on Education, Multilingualism, Internationalization, and Technologies (EMITI) and responds to the context of the rapid expansion of AI and its impacts on teaching, learning, research, languages, and the circulation of knowledge.

Held at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES), the event will bring together researchers, teachers, students, and educational managers from Espírito Santo, other Brazilian states, and abroad through keynote lectures, roundtables, oral presentations, and formative and collaborative activities. Its program will connect trajectories, present-day challenges, and possible futures, providing an opportunity to revisit experiences and transformations, critically analyze contemporary challenges, and develop perspectives for education in the age of AI. The initiative is aligned with Espírito Santo’s science, technology, and innovation agenda and with research projects funded by FAPES on artificial intelligence and education, seeking to bring technological debates closer to educational, linguistic, ethical, and social issues. As outcomes, the event is expected to expand scientific exchange and the training of students and researchers, strengthen national and international networks, promote the dissemination of scientific production from Espírito Santo, stimulate new research and collaborations, and contribute to the development of critical, inclusive, and socially relevant agendas concerning the possible futures of education in the age of artificial intelligence.
