Decolonial Mate
Decolonial Mate is an international scholarly collective bringing together researchers from Brazil and beyond to critically examine higher education through decolonial perspectives. Coordinated by Kyria Finardi, the group creates a collaborative space for dialogue on internationalization, knowledge production, and epistemic justice in the Global South and North. The name Decolonial Mate draws inspiration from mate, a traditional South American drink that is shared in a circle—symbolizing dialogue, horizontality, and community. Much like the practice itself, the group fosters inclusive, dialogic encounters where diverse voices and knowledges are exchanged, challenging dominant paradigms and reimagining more equitable futures for higher education. Through regular meetings and collaborative engagements, the group explores how decolonial approaches can reshape academic practices, policies, and partnerships, emphasizing relationality, critical reflection, and collective learning.
