Ufes Professor Appointed to MEC's Language Offering Working Group

Kyria Finardi, a professor from the Federal University of Espírito Santo's (Ufes) Department of Languages, Culture, and Education (DLCE), has been appointed to the Ministry of Education's (MEC) Language Offering Working Group (GTOI) as an English language specialist. The group was established in April of this year with the aim of formulating a set of strategic action proposals to support the offering of foreign language courses for students and graduates of Basic and Higher Education.

Finardi, who also works with the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) and Ufes's Permanent Internationalization Committee, conducts research in Applied Linguistics and Education with an emphasis on foreign language education, primarily focusing on the following themes: institutional internationalization, language teacher training, citizenship building through language, and linguistic policies.

In addition to Professor Finardi, the GTOI comprises professionals who are benchmarks in the field of internationalization in Brazil, along with representatives from associations such as the Brazilian Association for International Education (Faubai) and the National Association of Rectors of Federal Institutions of Higher Education (Andifes), among others.

"All of them will be at Ufes for the Ufes International Day event, which will take place on August 12th in the PPGE auditorium," anticipates Kyria Finardi. The event, aimed at students and professors from Ufes's graduate programs, will be an opportunity to share internationalization initiatives and will feature the presence of professors from federal universities and institutes in Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, and São Paulo.

The Ufes International Day will also serve as a pre-conference for the V Ufes International Week, scheduled for October.
