• Naiara Nobre

​

Naiara dos Santos Nobre is a Ph.D. candidate in Education in the Graduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (PPGE/UFES), within the research line Education and Languages. Her doctoral research investigates researcher education mediated by artificial intelligence-based assistive agents. She holds a Master's degree in Humanities Teaching from the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo (IFES, 2023), where her research focused on the development of computational thinking among children. She also earned a Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy from Faculdade Pitágoras de Guarapari (2012) and a Bachelor's degree in Portuguese Language and Literature from IFES (2022). In addition, she holds postgraduate specializations in Educational Informatics (FASE, 2013), Educational Management, with qualifications in School Administration, Supervision, Guidance, and Inspection (ISE, 2019), and Digital and Media Education from the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS, 2025). She currently serves as Pedagogical Coordinator at the Educational Technology Center (NTE) of the Municipal Department of Education of Guarapari (SEMED), where she contributes to the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of projects related to educational technology, digital and media culture, artificial intelligence, educational robotics, scientific initiation, and teacher professional development. Within the Center, she has also worked extensively as an instructor and tutor in both face-to-face and online professional development programs. Her professional trajectory includes experience as an early childhood education teacher, school shift coordinator, pedagogical advisor, and pedagogical coordinator at the secondary education level, as well as an educational technology facilitator and teacher educator. She has extensive experience in planning and supervising pedagogical practices, managing educational projects, and developing initiatives that promote the critical, creative, and ethical integration of technology into teaching and learning processes. She also develops and supervises scientific initiation projects involving K–12 students, fostering inquiry, problem-solving, and the development of technological solutions to real-world challenges. Her work in this area includes mentoring projects presented at science fairs and exhibitions, supporting the production of academic work, preparing students for evaluation processes, and strengthening partnerships among schools, universities, science, technology, and local communities. In the fields of educational robotics and maker education, she coordinates projects that integrate programming, computational thinking, prototyping, sensors, electronic devices, and the development of creative technological solutions. She views educational robotics not merely as a technical resource but as a pedagogical approach that promotes collaboration, student authorship, experimentation, project-based learning, and learner agency. Her academic and professional interests also include artificial intelligence in education, digital, media, and algorithmic literacies, teacher education, pedagogical innovation, science education, computing in K–12 education, and the development of educational resources. Through her educational initiatives, she seeks to critically examine both the opportunities and the limitations of emerging technologies, addressing issues such as ethics, algorithmic bias, authorship, information reliability, and the indispensable role of human mediation in educational contexts.

• Barbara Cortat Simoneli

​

Barbara Cortat Simoneli is a PhD candidate and holds a master’s degree in Education from the Post-Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kyria Finardi. Her research focuses on the processes of critical internationalization at home, emphasizing the training of teachers and researchers through virtual exchanges. The objective is to understand how these experiences contribute to the construction of a global citizenship for these subjects. Barbara has extensive experience in international online collaborations, working with educators and researchers from institutions such as Florida Universitària (Spain), Coventry University (England), Gazi University (Turkey), University of Limerick (Ireland), and University of Bern (Switzerland). Her master’s research, conducted between the second semester of 2021 and the second semester of 2023, explored the critical training of English teachers, grounded in Paulo Freire's critical pedagogy as the main theoretical framework. She holds a degree in English Language and Literature from Ufes, where she was a scholarship student in the extension program Building Citizenship Through Language, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Kyria Finardi. Her current research interests include interculturality, global citizenship development, the internationalization of higher education, and the critical teaching and learning of the English language.​​

• Maria Carolina Porcino

She holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES, 2011) and a Master's degree in Linguistic Studies, with a concentration in Applied Linguistics, from the Graduate Program in Linguistic Studies at UFES (2015). She is a faculty member at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Espírito Santo (Ifes), Cariacica Campus.

• Cesario Lino

Holds a Bachelor's degree in Bantu Language Teaching from the Eduardo Mondlane University, Mozambique (2015), and a Master's degree in Education from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES, 2024).

From 2017 to 2022, he served as a consultant and bilingual education specialist at the Ministry of Education and Human Development of Mozambique. During this period, he worked with the Provincial Directorate of Education of Niassa and the District Service of Education, Youth, and Technology of Nampula, contributing to the development and implementation of bilingual education policies and practices.

• João Gabriel de Conte Carvalho de Alencar

​​

João Gabriel is a K–12 English teacher with the Municipal Department of Education of Vitória, Espírito Santo, and the Espírito Santo State Department of Education (SEDU). Since 2023, he has also served as a school shift coordinator at a full-time public school.

He worked as an English language instructor at the North American Cultural Institute (CNA Vila Velha) from 2009 to 2014 and served as Academic Coordinator at CNA Serra, Espírito Santo, from January 2011 to January 2013. He holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES, 2009) and a Master's degree in Education from the same institution (2016). His research interests focus on English language teaching through Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT).

• Eduardo Henrique Diniz de Figueiredo

My name is Eduardo H. Diniz de Figueiredo. I am a husband, father of two boys, son, brother, uncle, guitar and percussion player (I do not play very well, but enjoy it very much), and beer/wine lover. I also like coffee and a good cachaça from time to time. I am a Brazilian tenured professor of English and Applied Linguistics at Universidade Federal do Paraná, in Curitiba-Brazil, where I have been teaching since 2015. Prior to that, I was a tenure-track professor of English at Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina, in Florianópolis-Brazil, and I have also taught at a number of other institutions in Brazil and the USA. I have a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Arizona State University, a master’s degree in English from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, and a teaching undergraduate degree in English from Universidade Federal da Paraíba. • Raquel Carolina D'Ely

​

She holds a Bachelor's degree in English Language Teaching (1979), a Master's degree in English Language and Literature (1983), and a Ph.D. in English and Applied Linguistics (2006), all from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).

She has been a faculty member at UFSC since March 2010, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the English Language and Literature Program and in the Executive Secretariat in English Program within the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures (DLLE). Prior to her appointment, she was awarded a CAPES Postdoctoral Development Program (ProDoc) fellowship at UFSC, where she served as an early-career postdoctoral researcher from January 2008 to May 2009.

She served as President of the Santa Catarina Association of English Language Teachers (APLISC) in 2008 and as Vice President in 2007. She also has extensive experience in distance education, having worked as an online tutor from 2008 to 2009 and as an online instructor from 2010 to 2016. During this period, she also served as Pedagogical Coordinator of the tutor team for the online Spanish language program.

From 2017 to 2021, she coordinated the Center for Portuguese as a Foreign Language (NUPLE) and the extracurricular Portuguese as a Foreign Language Program. During this time, she also coordinated three editions of the Celpe-Bras Portuguese language proficiency examination.

She has collaborated with the Continuing Teacher Education Program of Santa Catarina (PECPISC) and has been actively involved in foreign language teacher education initiatives since 2002, working in partnership with the Santa Catarina State Department of Education. Since 2020, she has served as the Pedagogical Coordinator of the PIBID English Extension Project, supporting the professional development of pre-service English teachers.

Her research and teaching experience lie in the fields of Language and Linguistics, with an emphasis on Applied Linguistics. Her main research interests include second language teaching and learning, L2 oral production, task-based language learning, metacognitive processes in L2 oral performance, teacher education, and distance education. She is a member of the AQUILES Research Group (English as a Foreign Language Acquisition: Theoretical, Pedagogical, and Research Methodology Issues).

• Luciana Cabrini Simoes Calvo

​

Luciana Cabrini Simões Calvo: Holds a degree in Portuguese-English Letters, a master's degree and a doctorate in Language Studies from the State University of Londrina. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Federal University of Espírito Santo, with a CNPQ grant. She is an associate professor in the Department of Modern Languages and a permanent professor in the Postgraduate Program in Letters at the State University of Maringá. She coordinated the English-Letters project of the Institutional Program of Teaching Initiation Scholarships (PIBID) at UEM, the Paraná Speaks Languages-English Program and the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Program (CAPES-Fulbright Notice 16/2019) of the institution. She worked at the International Cooperation Office of UEM, in the Internationalization at Home Sector. She promoted and coordinated Virtual Exchange actions at the institution (Brazilian Virtual Exchange Program -BRaVE/UEM). She has developed virtual exchange in partnership with professors from universities in the United States, Honduras, Algeria, Germany and Israel; in addition to mirror class activities in partnership with a professor from Colombia. Her research focuses on the areas of teacher training, language teaching and learning, English as a lingua franca, virtual learning exchange, internationalization, internationalization at home and English as a medium of instruction.

• Carlos Alberto Hildeblando Junior

Volunteer Professor in Higher Education at the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes), affiliated with the Department of Languages and Foreign Cultures (DLCE) and the Center for Education (CE). Currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE/Ufes), with a scholarship from Fapes (PROFIX 12/2024). Holds a Master’s degree (2019) and a Ph.D. (2024) in Education from PPGE/Ufes, both funded by CAPES, with the doctoral research also supported by the CAPES/PRINT/PDSE Program. Earned a Ph.D. (2024) in Global Education from Coventry University (CovUni), UK, under a cotutelle agreement, with a scholarship from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). He is the co-coordinator of the research network English as a Medium of Education, Multilingualism and Virtual Exchange: Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EMEVEDI), affiliated with the International Association of Applied Linguistics (AILA), and a member of the CNPq research group "Education, Multilingualism, Internationalization, Technology, English" (EMITI). His research focuses on the internationalization of higher education, with an emphasis on Internationalization at Home (IaH) and Internationalization of the Curriculum (IoC). He also investigates Virtual Exchange (VE), Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), Decolonial Theory, and the concept of Third Space. His work aims to foster critical reflection, intercultural competence, and global citizenship among pre-service and in-service language teachers through decolonial approaches to teacher education and English language teaching. PhD in Linguistic Studies from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (2020) under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Kyria Finardi. Master from West Virginia University (2010) under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Cynthia Chalupa. Graduated in Letters-English from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (2005). She has experience in teaching English as a foreign language and a second language both in Brazil and in the USA. He was a teacher-trainer at the UFES Language Center for 9 years, where he also taught as a full-time professor. He is currently an effective professor at the Department of Foreign Languages at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), in the area of English. His area of research is the internationalization of higher education in Brazil, more specifically in the evaluation of the internationalization process in the country. I began my academic journey by studying International Relations at a private university, however, attending a public university has always been a dream.
